Early Childhood Programs at Faulkner

At Faulkner, we believe the early years are a time for children to wonder, explore, create, and build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Our Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs provide a warm, welcoming environment where children are known as individuals and encouraged to grow at their own pace. Through hands-on experiences, purposeful play, early academics, creativity, movement, and meaningful relationships, children develop the skills and confidence they need for their next steps in school and beyond.

Our small-school environment allows children to feel a true sense of belonging. We value the whole child—supporting social-emotional growth, independence, communication, problem-solving, and a genuine love of learning alongside foundational academic skills.

Our Programs

Preschool

Two mornings a week | 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Our Preschool program offers children a gentle introduction to the school experience in a nurturing and engaging environment.

Families may choose from:

  • Monday & Thursday

  • Tuesday & Friday

Preschoolers learn through a balance of guided activities and purposeful play. Children have opportunities to explore early literacy and math concepts, create through art and music, develop fine- and gross-motor skills, practice communication and cooperation, and build independence.

Most importantly, children begin to discover that school is a place where they are welcomed, valued, and excited to learn.

Pre-Kindergarten

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Pre-Kindergarten builds on children's growing independence and curiosity while preparing them for the expectations of kindergarten.

Our Pre-K program provides a purposeful balance of play, exploration, social learning, and early academics. Children strengthen foundational skills in literacy, language, mathematics, problem-solving, fine-motor development, and classroom routines while continuing to learn through hands-on experiences.

We want our Pre-K students to leave each day feeling capable, confident, and excited about what they can do.

Kindergarten

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Kindergarten at Faulkner is a place for children to grow as learners, thinkers, friends, and independent members of a classroom community.

Our Kindergarten program combines foundational academics with hands-on learning, creativity, movement, and opportunities for children to ask questions, solve problems, and explore their interests.

Children continue developing important skills in reading, writing, mathematics, communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional learning while building the independence and confidence they need for their next educational chapter.

Learning at Faulkner

Learning at Faulkner is about more than worksheets or knowing the right answer. It is about helping children become curious, confident learners.

We believe young children learn best when they are actively involved—when they can touch, build, imagine, investigate, ask questions, make connections, and try again. Our teachers intentionally create experiences that meet children where they are while encouraging them to take the next step.

Throughout the school day, children are developing skills in ways that feel natural and meaningful: listening to a story and talking about it, counting objects during play, experimenting with materials, creating artwork, working together on a project, practicing letters and sounds, building with blocks, solving a problem with a friend, or discovering something new on their own.

At Faulkner, play and learning go hand in hand.

Our goal is to nurture the whole child—building strong academic foundations while also helping children develop independence, kindness, confidence, creativity, communication, and a love of learning.

A Small School. A Strong Beginning.

For generations, Faulkner has been part of the North Billerica community. Today, we continue that tradition by providing young children with a warm, personal beginning to their educational journey.

Here, children are not just part of a classroom. They are known, supported, encouraged, and celebrated.
